Welcome to our inaugural issue!  This is the Proceedings of Picture Stories, the Fall, 2022 Senior Seminar in the Department of English Literatures & Writing. The seminar was taught by Grant Scott, a specialist in literature and the visual arts and author of Lynd Ward's Wordless Novels, 1929-1937: Visual Narrative, Cultural Politics, Homoeroticism (Routledge, 2022.)  The course began with an examination of the pictorial or “wordless” novels of the 1920s and 1930s, and then followed the complex interaction between word and image into the more contemporary graphic novel.

This issue was worked on by the founding team of student editors: Gabriella Hirshfield, Anna Holmwood, Elaine Landry, Lily Magoon, Saoirse Ozkan, & Nicole Tahmoosh.
