Abstract

Frans Masereel’s The Idea, Lynd Ward’s Wild Pilgrimage, and Martin Vaughn-James’ The Cage were written in different moments of the 20th century, from different countries, and with different main preoccupations, but they all explore the underlying theme of violence, specifically in the sexual, political, or metaliterary form.
