Abstract

The Idea (1920) by Flemish artist Frans Masereel,  Song Without Words (1936) by American artist Lynd Ward,  and Fun Home by American artist Alison Bechdel, build off of one another chronologically but also retain tactics characteristic of  of the graphic narrative, while handling these themes of politics, ideology, and the sexuality of the female body, connecting these themes into an idea of how life is brought into the world.
